[...] Wonder what on earth these people were thinking blatently advertising that they "grind" a crank ?? http://thorracinguk.wordpress.com/20…ngine-rebuild/ I mean wont that cause premature bearing failure and the cranks ability to sustain any kind of [...]
I completely agree with you about the RB26 crank but clearly you have never seen an RB30 crank before.
They are not manufactured/machined like the RB26 crank. They are very crude. Often the donor engines have been cooked or bearings spun (they are from a daily run-around in Australia after all, which get treated appaulingly) We machine them to take the smallest amount off and IMPORTANTLY radius the journals like the RB26, in fact we believe we are making them better.
Machining journals on a crank is common practice with other engines, Nissan Skylines are unusual in the Jap market.
We’ve build these engines for years (imported 20 Holden VL Commodore engiens back in 2007) and they don’t fail!
So I think you comment is un-founded in fact.
Take a chill pill matey, I was taking the piss, you should post the thread in its entirety if you want to quote me , Im the one saying its fine to grind cranks …
Phew. I thought the world had gone mad. I thought I was referring to someone who commented on your thread. Thanks Pete
